New Forest Leadership Training

fs level 3October 2015 saw the start of a new Forest School Leadership training course being held at Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve on the outskirts of the New Forest. A full cohort of 15 excited, but perhaps a little nervous, trainees began the first part of their level 3 Forest School Leadership Qualification with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.

Children discover local WW2 history when evacuated to Testwood Lakes

At Testwood Lakes Nature Reserve in Totton children can see genuine WW2 remains and artefacts and experience what life was like for an evacuee in the New Forest. Oakwood Primary School Year 3 children from Southampton have been studying their local history from the WW2 era this autumn term. To get some real ‘hands-on’ experience they donned 1940s costumes, made gas masks and identity cards and headed for the ‘Testwood Lakes Evacuation Centre’.

Martin Kiszko, the UK’s green poet inspires year 5 pupils from Beechwood Junior School at Testwood Lakes Nature Reserve, Totton

At Testwood Lakes Nature Reserve in Totton, 60 year 5 pupils from Beechwood Junior School, Southampton have just taken part in a unique day of eco-challenges and a water-inspired poetry workshop. The children are right at the beginning of their topic ‘Keen to be green’ and the water cycle, so booked a day at the Testwood Lakes Education Centre to give them a hands-on experience.
