Would you go down to the woods today?

As the weather gets hotter and pupils are spending more time outdoors during and after school hours, it’s a great time to get them thinking about where and how they relax and play. Starting with an online survey for parents and children, the New Forest National Park Authority has been working in partnership with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, the National Trust and the Heritage Lottery Fund to research “Wild Play”- how young people use and feel about the local natural spaces they use, and if they do use them.

So many of the young people in our area live with the New Forest on their doorstep, but perhaps not all of them get to enjoy it. The survey will lead directly to a project enabling access to natural space for young people who live in and on the borders of the New Forest. Help us survey as many people as possible by sharing these links with friends, pupils and parent groups.

Email helen.robinson@newforestnpa.gov.uk for suggestions on how to use it in class! Both surveys will be open until the end of July 2014.

Have a happy and healthy summer term.
